Jardin alpin

Styles combined

Location: Courchevel 1850

Completion: 2017

Surface area: 95 m2

The brief:

- Rework the layout.

- Mix a contemporary vibe with a chalet style.

- Create a beautiful living room.

- Decorate with the owner's furniture in mind.

Architectural  choice:

Located in a 1970s residence at the foot of the slopes, the owner literally fell in love with this apartment. Eager to put his stamp on his newly-acquired property, he called in Atelier Rémi Giffon to make the flow work. The interior designers freed the spaces from their original hold, giving pride of place to the main living room with the focus on the balcony and the view. Thus, the dining room, lounge and TV/fireplace area now enjoy their generous, well-defined proportions. All the bedrooms, converted into en suites, have been optimised to accommodate functional storage and adjoining bathrooms.

Added value of the project:

The chalet spirit flaunts old wood, interspersed on the walls and covering the ceilings, yet pared down with flat white areas. This makes for a clever mix of the contemporary and the authentic. Modernity is reflected in the bathrooms and kitchen with the use of large format tiles and imitation marble boasting meticulously chosen veins to echo the colour of old wood. Being a fervent design and furniture enthusiast, the owner was keen to bring on board the informed eye of interior designers to integrate his many pieces of eclectic furniture and decorative objects, amassed over the years. As Atelier Rémi Giffon was bent on each piece making a statement, they became instrumental when structuring the volumes and defining the functions.

So when each piece is positioned with precision, it pertinently belongs to a whole.
