The brief:

- Completely rethink the interior of the chalet

- Create synergy between the different floors

- Add a wellness area

- Design and decorate in a yachting style

- High-spec finish

Architectural choice:

Although this well-known chalet on the slopes oozes traditional architecture, inside, the contrast is striking! Coming from the yachting world, the owners wanted their passion to stand out from this place as much in the understanding of the materials and colours as in the top-of-the-range finishes. Given the context of the chalet, intended to house seasonal staff, Atelier Rémi Giffon decided to start from a blank canvas in order to master the space to the owners’ liking. In this vein, it designed a stairwell forming the new spine of the chalet, made of concrete with glass railings. In the same thought process, the interior designer developed a vertical dynamic to link the floors, rewriting the architectural perspectives, while reworking the flow. In the basement, Rémi Giffon did not hesitate to incorporate the adjacent garage (calling for extensive underpinning work) to attach it to the chalet and create the wellness space, well worthy of its name! Two dormer windows were added under the eaves to make use of this top floor, maximising on the natural light and a magnificent view of the mountain.

Added value of the project:

In responding to the owners' requirements, Rémi Giffon has designed a bespoke layout and decoration that resonates. Light colours pervade, the interior designer has set a real visual pace, toying with textures and materials: Bauwerk parquet flooring, light oak, stone, carpets, curtains, upholstered furniture, tiles, painted wood... White in all its forms of expression, a colour scheme flattered by millimetric lighting, orchestrating a dance of decorative lights, LED strip lighting, lighting profiles and spot lights. And when it comes to the fittings, the yachting world is one of finesse, with streamlined integration. Hence, every invisible door, curtain pelmet or even storage element openly flirts with elegance, subtlety and no fuss.
